I received a bit of good news yesterday. One of my editors had told me that the picture above was a finalist in the California Newspaper Publishers Association’s Better Newspaper Contest. Also receiving awards was Eiji Yamashita who placed second in the Investigative/Enterprise Reporting category. The Sentinel staff was named a finalist in the Public Service category for their series of stories on how to cope with the downturn in the economy.
