iPhone Photograph of Frost in Hanford, California

weatherphoto2

The last few days temperatures in the Central Valley have been cold. The thermometer dipped low enough for it to snow in the Altamont Pass and to have cars left out over night frost over, which happened to my car. The frost made my the doors stick; making me use more force than usual.

Even though all the frost in Hanford was an inconvenience it also provided great picture opportunities. Unfortunately I didn’t have my cameras. I was at an in between point with my commute to work. The Canons I use for the paper were at the office and the Nikons, my personal cameras, were left at home. Being a big believer in the saying, your best camera is the one you have with you, I fumbled around in my pockets to pull out my iPhone. I photographed the windshields of a couple of cars while my own warmed up and came away with the picture above.

It ended up running as a centerpiece-five-column photo on our frontpage. This was the first time anything I shot with my iPhone ran in the paper. It doesn’t really matter what brand of camera you use just as long as you take the picture.
